op amp fuzz
cholla
Cholla (choy-uh)is a cute fuzzy cactus found near the mountain.
While this little bud may look cuddly, get too close and it’s vicious. You’ll be picking barbs out of your hands for weeks. Some small animals even use parts of the plant as defense. It’s a different kind of cactus. Not really what you expect.
So, we wanted to make something different with our own cholla.
It’s a fuzz—a modern, high gain fuzz—but it’s different. Instead of using series transistors or hard clipping diodes, at the heart of the cholla are cascading op amps. What you end up with is a heavy, articulate, grinding fuzz that maintains note definition and keeps your big, weird chords big…and weird.
