Growing up in the shadow of The Mountain, we dug out a fort in the prickly pear.

Resilient by nature, prickly pear is a cactus you’ll find in harsh desert conditions—where it not only thrives, but produces delicious fruit and edible pads (nopales). It’s an interesting dichotomy—the fruit is sweet and slightly acidic, while the nopales are meaty and filling. Just steer clear of the spines and you’re in for a good time.

Let’s be honest, this pedal is called prickly pear because it’s a dual drive circuit, but the culinary notes still apply here. From sweet, tangy drive to meaty, chunky distortion, prickly pear is something special…and you get two of them. They’re identical, simple drive circuits that really shine when combined. Switch between them, use one as a boost before the other for more drive, use one as a boost after the other for more volume, set them both to max for a big wall of distortion. A multitude of possibilities. A prickly pair.
